Mobbin No Sobbin as a motto, a philosophy, sounds like something you’d see scrawled in basic graffiti on an underpass. Possibly next to a tag that reads “Fuck you”. It’s a mantra you think about for awhile, but never able to discern the meaning, you could forget it quickly. This would be a mistake.
Mobbin No Sobbin, the album, is Beautiful Lou and Western Tink emerging from an oppressively dark place, destroying struggle. Beautiful Lou’s production creates a smog of an atmosphere. Dark and depressive; beats that mine the gloom of John Carpenter soundtracks, screw tapes, and old horror movies. Shit is gloomy, but you could still ride to it, if you wanted to make your car an ice cream truck for doom and bass. The party song on the album “This Is How I’m Livin” sounds like music The Terminator bumps, as he busts a Dougie post termination.
