Elaquent – Believing

Whether it is on purpose or coincidence, Elaquent is a beatsmith who creates juicy beats that upholds his own producing name. A lot of his lacings are hip-hop and soul oriented, but you should know by now that any claimed influence these days can be misleading. Elaquent’s latest album, Believing, showcases his musical ability to adapt and evolve his game. Yes, there are clear signs of hip-hop and soul interspersed within the album, though the organic style he has injected into the album overshadows any doubts of it being yet another mundane, album. You’ll stumble across unorthodox yet progressive beats, an eclectic collection of effects, and a modest use of looped vocals. This downtempo-esque album also provides a wide range of moods and tone, all the while keeping your mind at bay. Mystique, yet familiar. Blunt, yet majestic.

Deniro Farrar - The Patriarch II

I am indebted forever to my music family (I do not have "fans") forever, however this is not geared solely to please others. Music is therapy, and true magic and classic material occurs when artists leave their souls on a track. This is The Patriarch II. Written in some of the darkest and most bleak times in my life, this is my therapy. Facing indescribable personal trials and tribulations, coupled with my family crumbling as I watch my lil bro and biggest supporter face a serious trial and jail sentence, I did the thing I was born to do. Write and express my life. Motivated by yall's support, that someone wanted to hear what I had to say, this emotional work was conceived. This is the light at the end of the tunnel. The rose born in the concrete. This is The Patriarch II.

Rob Milton - Developing

Teaming up with Florida native producer brandon*, Rob Milton is taking another step in his journey with his appropriately titled third EP, Developing. The six-track offering delves straight in with its Jacque Hammond-assisted soulful opener, “Around,” which spins off of a Lauryn Hill Unplugged 2.0 gem. After a magical call and response duet with Hammond, Milton returns to the inspiring message that resonated through his two 2012 releases on “Live Up” and details his early morning sentiments as he prepares to embark on what could easily become a daunting day. Going on to an untitled letter to a future love, a Lewis Taylor-inspired Brian Wilson remake and a bright interlude, Milton serves up an authentic look into his world and caps it off with the rousing guitar-driven title track. “Life is the greatest teacher and I’ll never know if I don’t reach,” he proclaims. Milton and brandon* have developed an organic combination of jazz, hip hop and gospel elements that they are certain that music lovers will appreciate.
